No, everyone is not guaranteed a spot on the team. Due to the limited number of spots on the team and the level of competition in travel programs, not everyone is guaranteed a spot. Players are chosen based on ability and skill. In the event there are enough travel level players to form two teams, A and B teams will be formed.

It is anticipated each roster size will be 10-12 players, however the Executive Board will make the final decision for each grade level depending on the try-out numbers and ability.

Jr. Bobcat coaches and Board members evaluate all players at tryouts and choose the 10 – 12 players they feel are most ready for travel basketball.

Travel Basketball is played at a competitive level, playing time is earned based on each player’s performance in both practices and games. During practice, every player will be given the same instruction and the same opportunities.

All players are expected to give 100% during practices. This will contribute to not only their own development, but the team’s development as well. The harder they practice, the more it will impact their playing time as the coaches recognize and reward this personal commitment.

Teams practice twice a week for 75 to 90 minutes (when school gyms are open).

Team practices will take place at either HCC or Wampus Gym. For this season’s practice schedule.

Please only register for the try-outs knowing that if your child is selected, he/she can make the full commitment to the Jr Bobcats program,. If your child has a conflict with the assigned practice days/times, the Jr. Bobcats will not allow our participants to split time with outside programs, leave our practices/games early to participate in another program or attend another Jr Bobcats team’s practice in lieu of their own team. In order to be consistent and fair to all the players involved we need to require that our kids attend all of our practices and games. This policy covers both the boys and girls programs.

The fee for the winter travel program is $800 per player. The fee covers private coaching, new uniform (if needed), additional team gear, league and referee fees, insurance, not-for profit and accounting costs, supplies, table staff at games and the management and instruction of Coach Marshall Reiff (12-time Section 1 Champion, 4-time NYS Championship & 2-time NY Federation Champion).
